..... And then the bloody snow

On waking this morning I was greeted with the arrival of more snow. How I hate it. But there was no telling Trix that, so out with her for a walk. She chased it,got her nose covered in it and generally bounced around in it. I muttered and moaned my way round the walk, like some demented old hag.

Then I came home, organised my chair in front of the window, got a pot of coffee and my breakfast and sat looking out of the window for an hour. Reason being is I've just taken part in the RSPB annual garden bird watch. The bird table was prepared with it's normal rations of bird seed and crushed peanuts, plus cause of the snow some juicy raisins. Then all I had to do was sit warm and snug inside and note which birds came into my garden over the period. It was a tough call sitting doing it! And more importantly an absolute pleasure, even though Trix could not understand why I was just sitting there. So now when I can finally get through I will tell the RSPB my findings and feel that I have contributed to something important countrywide

Oh, I remember telling my step mother she was making the birds reliant on human beings and it was dumb to feed birdies.

Is this where I hide the bags of birdie seed and blush a lot?

And hide the birdie books?
And the squirrel food? And block the view from the window so you can't see all 7 feeders?

Oy.....LOL

It sounds like you had an imposed hour of just "being" - a great way to spend a Sunday morning. Sorry about the snow though ... and funny enough, we usually get loads of it and this year my little town has had only an inch or two. Unheard of!

This time I am not going to say I am jealous. I am not! This time I will say.. 'Eeks snow!'. We got frost, which brought my mood down severely, going from 11C and sunshine to frost, here I was thinking spring will arrive any day now.
I don't have a clue about birds. They are cute that's about it!
Sounds like a nice way of spending the morning though :)

We are quite accustomed to a sprinkling of snow many winter mornings here on the High Desert. Your task of spying on those little birds sounds like the perfect way to spend time on such a morn.

What a perfect way to spend an hour or two. I'm wondering if my favourite bird (Mr Robin) popped by. My sister said more snow was forecast, not again. Stay warm and safe♥ Linda

It was deep frost here.

We don't get birds in our garden....too many cats but I do watch the birds and squirrels in my mums garden.

I have been feeding them for her while she can't get out there.

I love birds. I'm going to do a post about little birds soon. Can I use your bird feeder photo Mandy, and link to you? It must be very hard for creatures to find adequate food when the weather is so harsh. Our main concern here is water of course, and that certainly doesn't seem a problem where you are!

Well done you, I am afraid I forgot to do it. I spend a lot of my time watching the birds anyway. But never the luxury of sitting still watching for a whole hour, it must have been bliss.

what fun!! I always wonder why people complain so much of the snow.. you see, we don't have it here and it is really but a dream for me. to see snow is about a 5hour trip in winter time.. oh it snows here sometimes in winter but never settles.

I can just see you sitting there all snug as a bug watching the birdies.. do you think they were watching you too?

I hear yeah.
I live in Canada where i am we get heaps of it.
Mind you I would rather the snow than the -40 temps that we also get.
