RIGHT ON BILL!!

A lazy post tonight, as my mood is not good and don't want to write it out yet, need to sort out my emotions a bit first. So in the meantime here is another circular. It really amused me, tried to tell youngest with attitude, but.....

Plus a picture of Trix the snow dog!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Love him or hate him, he sure hits the nail on the head with this! Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about 11 things they did not and will not learn in school. He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.
Rule 1: Life is not fair - get used to it!
Rule 2 : The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.
Rule 3 : You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.
Rule 4 : If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.
Rule 5 : Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.
Rule 6: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.
Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.
Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you chances as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.
Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.
Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.
Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.
If you agree, pass it on.
If you can read this - Thank a teacher!
Lovely pic of Trix!
Bill Gates isn't my favourite person in the world, but I think he's spot on with most of this (there's one point I disagree with!), and I found myself nodding when I read it.
Hope all gets sorted out with your mood and emotions, there's empathy from me coming your way.
The word verification is ingday, which sounds like it's missing a prefix..
I love this! I tried to make my kids take it to heart as well but no such luck. LOL
Trixie seems to be a wee bit unsure of the snow! She's so beautiful.
Hope you are feeling more chipper now. Trix is so cute in the snow. We read in the paper today there was 8 inches of snow in London... unthinkable! Brrr.
Thank you for this, Fire Byrdie! I`ll print it out and use it (or can you forward it to me on my email address mail@angelaschmidt.com?)for my English students!! Sooo true!
And now you are getting an order from bossy Angela (I liked it that you admitted to sometimes being bossy/determined, too!): Be bright and happy! Right from this minute on! Start whistling, that always helps.
I love this post. I know a few early 20 somethings that should have heard this many years ago. They are having a difficult time becoming a part of society. On the other hand, I know a couple more who may not have heard it but who got it anyway.
I've been catching up on your posts since I've been gone. I hope Trixi is feeling calmer, or that you are feeling calmer when she looses it. Love will eventually do it for her if you can get through the initial phases.
Bill Gates is a smart man. He also happens to be very rich. Coincidence? Probably not.
