August........
I changed the page on the calender.
It was the sand dunes of Namibia, the warm balmy days of August.....
The sun warming tanned limbs as they stretch out on the grass.
The unplanned picnics with food to share.
The splashing of waves as the hit the shore
as the children run to catch one more
I looked out of the window at...
the new plants that need planting,
the clothes line sparkling with rain,
the swing seat that needs a book and me to lie on it,
the path that needs candles to light the way,
the table that needs a glass of wine and and friends to share,
and all I could see was the rain pouring down.
And even the dog's had enough,
not another walk in the rain.
Is this what she bargained for when she came to stay.
Another drenching, the third today

We had 7.44 inches of rain in July--I just checked to make sure it wasn't my imagination. It was a wet one.
I was hoping for August to bring the hot, dryness that I'm accustomed to.
Ha. Rain all weekend, they're saying.
And I don't even have a puppy to commiserate with me. LOL
Just himself (who's away with the 26YO)....who is finally figuring out the difference between 'sprinkling' and 'raining buckets'. ;-)
Oh, and ty--I need to change the calendar now....
Thanks for the reminder to turn the calendar! Looking forward to spring and summer soon.. Poor Trix, hope it dries up soon so she can have a decent walk!
Enjoyed your last post too, about the various greeneries in the garden x
we also had rain today which is very unusual for winter. i left my washing out last night so it was all wet this morning.
while i was taking it down i was giving myself a little lecture on being grateful that it was not stolen during the night rather than grumbling because what was dry is now wet.
i still wish the sun was shining today.
No rain here today. It is probably going to be a scorcher with not a cloud in sight. Poor doggy. My dog doesn't even want to go into the backyard to go to the bathroom when it is raining.
The reain in Florida has added the perfect background for my glum mood. It's much easier to go at a snail's pace, or no pace at all, stay in one's PJ's and lament what's not being done when the rain pours down outside. When the sun comes out I hear the potato vines growing closer to the back door, as if coming to get me. Soon I'll have to beat them back with a stick.
I am sending you some sunshine immediatly! maybe put on the heater, make your self some iced tea and turn on a movie filmed in the tropics or somewhere warm.
that namimbian sand dune looks nice...:)
Poor Trix, she really looks like she is finish for today ( not sure if that is the right expression) Hope weather improves and you have a lovely Sunday with your friend tomorrow
Sunshine is premium commodity in the rains, something we've been blessed with the last two days, fortunately.
I'd preferred they made calendars with a page for every week. Something like 52 landscapes to flip through the year :-)
She's had enough of the rains by the looks of it.
After a week of indoors with a two years old with swine flu. A day indoors because of the rain is JUST NOT FAIR!!!
Heavenly !
Here there is a bit of gloom in the air, but true to California it will soon sink to the ground and mellow out into a sunny, hot day... wish I could gather it up and sprinkle it over you and your furbaby.
:-)
Thank you for your visit, especially as it has allowed me to come and visit you in your little corner, umbrella needed or not...
;-)
Well-wishes,
me
It's been raining a lot here too. Dad's dementia seems to be kicking in nicely. He keeps bringing Mum's wet washing in off the line.Mum's starting to look as defeated as Trix.
Here I am just a bit envious of the rain as we need it so badly. Everything is terribly dry and the smoke from nearby forest fires hangs heavy in the valley and makes me feel like I'm walking through campfire smoke if I so much as open the door. My house and pets are totally safe from this fire, unlike thousands of people on the other side of the lake who are evacuated, so I have to remember to still be grateful, even though just a moment or two outside and my sinuses are aching. I can't imagine what those poor forest fire fighters are dealing with! Yikes!
Thank you for your posts, as always, M. I love reading your thoughts. And thank you for your props in the previous post. I'm really glad you have found a couple of my photos that you love so much!
Hugs and butterflies,
~T~
Mandy, here the sun is already out and we expect some nice hot summer days (up to 30° till the end of the week). Maybe you should come earlier? R. must have landed by now, thanks again!!!!
Its the rain that puts the color in your eyes as you look at the blooms in the morning light
Here is very warm... Take a holliday over here :).
(((((((( the byrdie ))))))))))
(mostly cuz I can....ha!)
I don't mind rain sometimes, but this is supposed to be SUMMER and I crave sunshine......
Sorry I have not been by for a while. I have been finding it difficult to keep up with everything.
I still love your blog tho! And all the wonderful pictures.
Is all that rain unusual for your area? In FL, we have rain pretty much everyday from May through September. Never really all day but always at one point. Combined with the heat it makes the whole place one huge sauna.
Trixie looks so dejected. Poor baby!
