Different country, different day, and very different weather!

Decided that I was being a wuss if I didn't go down to Cornwall. Sogetting to Devon at lunch time Thursday, quick lunch and a two hour drive to St Ives on the north coast of Cornwall.
Thursday evening after supper just sitting on the beach at Carbis Bay listening to the waves and walking in the surf, but forgot my camera!

Friday it was Falmouth. It's a long time since I'd been here and it's blown me away. In fact I'm in the process of now reconsidering my options as to where I'm going to move to. I can afford a house down in Cornwall and one quite possibly with a sea view. It's one of the poorest parts of Britain alongside the area I live so I can get more for my money than in Devon. Anyway all is to play for now, but watch this space!

A view of Falmouth harbour from the restuarant we had lunch. Not a bad place to sit and eat pizza and drink too much wine with my friend L, who I've known for 25 years and who moved down here last year.

Sunset Thursday from the hill L. lives on overlooking St Ives Bay

Friday it was first stop Mineack open air theatre for a picnic sitting on one of the stone seats

The sea and flower strewn cliff below the stage

Me on the stage with the sea beyond sparkling in the midday sun.

Next stop Cape Cornwall with Lands End in the distance.

Climbing over the rocks past the seagreen pools

The view of the waves crashing over the rocks at the edge of the sea at Priests Cove

Aren't we lucky to have such beautiful and very different coastines around the country - I love the ruggedness of the Cornish and Devonshire coasts, and we have such wide sandy beaches with dunes up here in Northumberland. Looks like a great little hol.

I admit it, honey...How envious I am that you travel so much, even if it's just down the road!

Byrd,
Reading this post and seeing these pictures makes me very happy you took a chance on traveling again! This sounds like just the elixir you needed to wash the smell of ash out of your mind.

I know nothing at all of your country. You paint such a pretty picture that I want to visit all its nooks and crannies.

When you move will you continue to work or be a lady of leisure? Just thinking of you sitting in your pretty flowered home, sipping tea and listening to the crashing waves makes me happy for you. I can't wait to see where your dreams take you.

P.S. How pretty you are up on that stage!

Lovely photo of you Mandy. You look so happy. Thanks for sharing your adventures and interesting photos. Poland has been on our Australian t.v news lately with its intense flooding. Guess you feel good to be back on home soil (sand too!)x

Glad you got down, and even more that you are considering Cornwall rather than Devon.. :-) it is a lovely place to live and feels like home to me even though I have only officially been here since December, but in my own home as of Saturday which has views over to the coast from St Ives to St Agnes and from the back over to Carn Brae. It was all that I asked for and more xx xx

Your photos are beautiful as is that part of your country! My Mom is from England originally - a war bride who came to Canada 59 years ago - and she still says she'd love to be able to move back to the UK and the area she would choose would be Cornwall. It would be gorgeous to wake up to views like that every morning!

Can I just say I'm envious?
I'm envious! :-/

I soooooo wanna go hunting through the rock pools. That would be way too much fun.

I'm so glad you did it anyway. And despite leaving the camera for part of the adventure, what you captured was/IS awesome.
Welcome home!
